Beliefs
At First Baptist Church of Brooklyn, we believe in the triune God of the Old and New Testament. We believe that this God reveals Himself through the Bible, which we believe is the infallible and inerrant word of God. However, God’s greatest revelation of Himself comes through his Son, Jesus. We believe that Jesus is the only source of salvation for humanity and that salvation can be attained through repentance of sins, by belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior, and through a public profession of this faith. We adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as a guideline for our basic doctrinal beliefs.
Affiliation
First Baptist Church of Brooklyn is a free and independent body of believers which is congregational in nature and maintains the authority to determine for itself the best use of its resources for the kingdom of God. However, we recognize the mutual helpfulness of associating with other organizations and bodies of believers. Since 1918, First Baptist Church of Brooklyn has been affiliated with the Pine Belt Baptist Association (formerly the Lebanon Baptist Association) which serves local churches in the greater Hattiesburg and Forrest County area. First Baptist Church of Brooklyn is also affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board as well as the Southern Baptist Convention who serve state and national churches respectively.
